John Carpenter’s Christine soundtrack is being reissued on vinyl for the first time

John Carpenter’s 1989 cult car horror score is being reissued on vinyl for the first time.

TAKEN FROM THE VINYL FACTORY LIMITED GB : Originally released by Varèse Sarabande (VS-5240) , followed by a second Motown version that same year, ‎Carpenter created the haunted moto-synthscapes for Christine with frequent collaborator Alan Howarth.

My contact on Varèse confirm : “Cats out of the bag, yep that’s us! We have commissioned new art and I must say it looks FANTASTIC! We’ll be announcing this on our Twitter and Facebook page WITH the new art on August 16th, join us then Fabio and SPREAD the word on this cool new vinyl product!

ALIEN C O V E N A N T – WHAT ARE MY CHANCES ?

A L I E N  Covenant

So let’s talk about Sir Ridley Scott and his upcoming A L I E N COVENANT , coming out in ITALY 11 MAY 2017, in the previous 2 movies ALIEN and PROMETHEUS we have seen TWO spacecrafts named Juggernaut , a massive spacecrafts constructed by the Engineers( royal pricks of high-bred origins ),for whom know the saga that spaceships are derelicts, one on the moon LV426(ALIEN) and the other in LV233(Prometheus),both are planetoids(moons) of Zeta2 Reticuli IV system ; however , Now this time alien COVENANT show a third derelict spacecraft in to a another unknown terr-alike planet(PLANET 4),smashed in to a wood and with this premise, hoping not only a pilot’s issues, i’m sure it will be A remarkable Pandora’s vase in that amazing SCOTT’s filmic universe.

For who’s looking for other clues about this feature I can say most locations are from New ZeAland ; the cinematography is by Darius Wolski ASC (Prometheus) COVERED WITH ARRI ALEXA XT WITH PANAVISION LENSES(Probably ANAMORPHIC C Series or SOMETHING OF ACTUAL)  and some aerial shoots been covered with RED EPIC and THE HYDRA AERIAL CAMERA system

the TERRIFIC soundtrack is composed by jed kurzel(Macbeth-BABADOOK) and will BE released on Milan Records LP CD AND DIGITAL DOWNLOAD

Composed by JED KURZEL(1976, Australian composer , singer) ALIEN COVENANT SOUNDTRACK is integrating some original elements from JERRY GOLDSMITH’s A L I E N (check 02 The Covenant-05 Sail -06 Planet 4/Main Theme – 08 Wheat Field – 16 Face Hugger and 22 Alien Covenant Theme ) and something of really new mixing electronic with classical music that reach its best in the outstanding tracks 01 Incubation, 15 Command Override , 17 Chest Burster(BEAUTIFUL TRACK FIT IN TO A DISTURBING SCENE) ; while the top notch is the tracks 19 CARGO LIFT – 21 Terraforming Bay thanks to a sort of percussions that really enanched the scene and bring me to something structured and listen around James Newton Howard’s Collateral(Vincent hops train). THIS IS AN OUTSTANDING SCORE,A MUST AND SHOULD NEVER LACK TO ANY SOUNDTRACK COLLECTOR AND LOVER OF THIS MOVIE.

MY LIGHT REVIEW ALIEN COVENANT

ALIEN COVENANT could be poorly named Alien 2017,loosing all the philosophical meaning of the word covenant and later paradise lost ,so i like think about that as upgraded new begin and as      a l i e n  lover I can’t notice the many homages and reference to 1979 FILM , including The T E R R I F I C Soundtrack by Jed Kurzel that has in ITs Musical DNA many Jerry Goldsmith sounds and score. In that outstanding work of art the message is clear this is a new movie about fear of Unknown, fear to face our fears , about choices and mistakes. The feeling of dread and that something of tremendous is coming is constant , those features fit and set in all the acts of the story ,well written  directed and act (outstanding Fassbender and Waterstone)also supported by a state of art cinematography , production design , visual and special effects; this level of realism and beauty in my view was never reached in any other films of the saga(Alien and Prometheus except Which this film is the sequel ). Paying attention to details help  making the differences in suspense terms how could be try to close an automatic door in front a bloodthirsty evil creature but our feet accidentally  is blocking that function or run escaping from something and slipping over blood stains. Covenant is also a magnificent walk in the silence of the depth space but also a close up of acoustic meatus attacked by the black goo.A film of spaces there are introspective view Vs. the vastness of breath taking panorama or unsettling wastelands, with this visual synergy the feeling of being hunted make its play and leave its punch in the stomach . I saw this film twice in 24 hours and I’m still thinking about what i saw,so RIDLEY SCOTT’s Alien Covenant is working and I can’t wait for the next step in the story.

DEEP IN TO HEAT 2017

immagine-87As far as this soundtrack, in my view Michael Mann’s masterpiece, is concerned it is really possible to talk about “Miscellaneous Artists”. To be true, it all began to find out the beautiful piece The Last Lagoon by William Orbit (famous English, electronic music producer and arranger) and after several years of searching I could understand, quite totally, the very core of this film music.
Michael Mann maximises the emphasising of the visual impact together with the sound one by drawing profusely from famous and brillant authors such as the Kronos Quartet and Elliot Goldenthal (Alien 3).
Other tracks are omitted in the score official version, maybe both for room and royalties reasons, but anyway used in the film.
It is specifically these latter that I am going to consider mainly by listing aside the context they have been matched with:

– Get Up To This – New world beat
(Vincent at the disco’s office discover who “Slick” is;probably the Disco’s Background music fading…)
– Gringatcho Demento – William Orbit
(background music when Waingro is looking for a job in a bar) – track from Strange Cargo III album
– The thrill is gone – BB King
(During the ball of Vincent and Justine…)
– Concerto for Violoncello and Orchestra Boulez conducted by Ligeti
(the Platinum robbery) track from the namesake album
– The Monkey King William Orbit
(Chris, Neil and Michael mislead the guard by gesticulating) track from Strange cargo III
– Arabic Agony James
(L.A.P.D. Smile!…a picture from above)
– In November – David Darling
(Neil finds out from some documents who Vincent Hanna is) track from Cello album
– Late Evening in Jersey – Brian Eno
(Chris and Michael in the underground car park hack into the computer altering the bank alarm /Charlene and Dominique ask for the police safeguard)
– Black Cloud – Steve Roach /Elmar Schulte performed by Solitaire
(Waingro meets Roger Van Zant/ Donald stops what he was doing…) track from Ritual Ground album
– Celon – Lisa Gerrard / Pieter Bourke
(News of the bank robbery on TV)
– Will Gaines – Eric Clapton
(Neil devises with Nate a new escape plan / Vincent and Casalas visit Hugh Benny)
– The Last Lagoon – William Orbit
(Vincent says about Neil: “… He’s is still here…”I feel it” … Neil runs after Eady on the hill at dawn)
– The Mighty Limpopo – William Orbit
(Chris understands Charlene’s wave and leaves) – track from Strange Cargo I album

The piece The Last Lagoon by William Orbit (taken from Strange Cargo II album) replace Run Up Hill scene written by Elliot Goldenthal and included in the official soundtrack.
The same is true for the track Refinery Surveillance (scene of the surveillance in the refinery) afterwards replaced by three pieces: The Monkey King by William Orbit, In November by David Darling mixed with Arabic Agony by the James, this latter is taken from Wah Wah album.
Celon by Lisa Gerrard is used in the film but omitted in the soundtrack edition; all the three pieces by Lisa Gerrard are included in The Mirror Pool album.
New Dawn Fades, a shorter, not sung version, is used during the motorway chase between Vincent and Neil and it is a remake by Moby of the namesake piece by the Joy Division; the song integral version is available in the album I Like to Score by Moby.
Armenia by the Einstűrzende Neubauten (taken from Drawings of Patient O.T. album) used for a few seconds during the first “sceptical” meeting of Neil and Eady will be present also in other ”Hard” parts of Heat as well as in “The Insider”; the piece Late evening in Jersey by Brian Eno has recently been recorded on a compilation of unpublished works called Curiosities Vol. 1 (Opal Records).
Top O’ The Morning To Ya written by Eric Schrod, Leon Demant and Willie Dixon is played by the House Of Pain (taken from the House of Pain album) and it is in background during the meeting between Vincent and the informer Richard Torena in the Disco Club; By The Time I Get To Phoenix written by Jimmy Webb is probably droned by Vincent Hanna during the informer Albert Torena questioning.
Will Gaines by Eric Clapton is a piece taken from the soundtrack of Rush, a 1991 film directed by Lili Fini Zanuck.
As far as Ultramarine by Michael Brook is concerned, there is a special, unreleased version used when Vincent Hanna, in an understandable fit of hysteria, throws away his TV set at a traffic light.
There are two versions of the End Title composed by Moby and called God Moving Over the Face of the Waters: the “soft” one included in the official CD and the one included both in the single That’s When I Reach for My Revolver God Moving Over the Face of the Waters Heat Mix and in the above quoted album I like to score. However, the one in the film is slightly different from both these latter.
The pieces composed by Elliot Goldenthal and produced by Mathias Gohl are listed below among the others; the composer has made use, for some pieces, of the collaboration of the Kronos Quartet, the contemporary string quartet already known for collaborating with Philip Glass and with the The guitar orchestra Deaf Elk leading Page Hamilton of metal band Helmet

ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK SOUNDTRACK MISPRINT

dischivinile2I FOUND IT IN TO GENOVA “OUT OF BUSINESSES SHOP”; THIS SOUNDTRACK IS THE RE OF SILVA SCREEN SILLP1493 BUT PRINTED AS  ONE VINYL LP (NOT DOUBLE VINYL LP) AND IT COMES BY DAGORED RECORDS ITALY(RED 124 LP Barcode 8013252012419) ,IS VG+ MEDIA AND SLEEVE CONDITION ALBUM AND I WAS VERY SATISFY DUE THE BARGAIN WITH THE SELLER..

The listening experience is quite great the LPs sound of this edition is something of magic, there are very warm extension on bass frequencies and the highs really play great with my vintage Pioneer PL930 and Jbl LX44,BUT when I turn that for the B Side I discovered my copy have the B Side of another Lps from Dagored,to be more focused in my copy of Escape from NY i have record the B side of John Barry’s Game of Death(RED 121 LP) so I have Snake Plissken sharing room with Billy Chen ,and for that reason I guess if this is not a common error this Lp could be Rare as Unique!I don’t know if I will sell it for some undeniable offers for sure I will try to get another copy (complete) of this outstanding evergreen soundtrack by John Carpenter and Alan Howarth.
